For over 150 years, the Brooklyn Navy Yard churned out America's most famous fighting ships, from the USS Maine to the USS Missouri. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, invite someone you love to this special Tools & Talent workshop with artist, welder and Yard tenant, Susan Woods. Couples will learn basic welding and metal fabrication techniques and create custom hearts to take home. Class size is limited to 8 people.

Forget Hallmark this year and make your valentines the old-fashioned way in this special Tools & Talent Workshop at Woodside Press. Design and print your own greeting card and leave with a small collection of your cards as well as samples of all the other participants' designs. After a brief introduction to the 500 year old process and antique machinery involved, you'll be given access to Woodside Press' unique collection of hand-set wood and metal typefaces that cover over 100 years of typographic history. During World War II, the Brooklyn Navy Yard played a pivotal role in the American war effort – it built battleships and aircraft carriers, repaired over 5,000 ships, and sent troops and supplies to fronts across the globe.
