Discover the natural world in the midst a thriving urban industrial park on this bicycle and walking tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where we will explore New York City's waterways, terrestrial ecosystems and urban farms.  At the stunning 65,000-square-foot Brooklyn Grange rooftop farm, we will learn how they produce 20,000 pounds of vegetables annually – as well as honey and eggs – and are a national leader in the development of rooftop and urban farming techniques. Look up! There’s a farm on the roof! Join City Growers on this interactive tour of the Brooklyn Grange. Learn about all the natural processes that occur on a green roof farm. Children of all ages will engage in hands-on lessons about where food comes from, plant science, composting, honey bees, and chickens.
