So you took our Intro to Beekeeping course, and now you're convinced you want to keep bees!  What can go wrong?  Well... a lot, actually.  Beekeeping isn't all roses and honey, and this class is designed to take the sting out of any challenges you may face.  From Dan Carr of Stone Barns, we'll learn what a swarm is, and how not to raise the rancor of your neighbors (and the NYPD) when swarm season arrives.  We'll learn how to check for swarm cells and conditions, and how to set up bait hives for catching swarms ...

I Live in Brooklyn: Story-Telling and Map-Making Workshop

Brooklyn families (and beyond!) are invited for an afternoon of reading, crafts and snacks. During a participatory reading of I Live in Brooklyn, kids will share their own favorite Brooklyn sights and sounds. Afterwards, they will draw and share maps of their neighborhood and have a chance to play with our Interactive Map and learn more about Navy Yard neighbors. Healthy snacks and lollipop treats will be provided for each child.
