Pure Pulp - Contemporary Artists Working in Paper at Dieu Donné (A Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend Event)
You know the written word on paper can be transformative, but did you know that the paper itself is a “chameleon material” - capable of being as soft as fabric or as hard as metal?
Join us for a unique Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend Event that will take you behind the walls of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and into the studio of Dieu Donné. The evening will begin at BLDG 92 with a brief talk about the creative and studio process as it relates to, Pure Pulp: Contemporary Artists Working in Paper at Dieu Donné, the beautifully illustrated book that accompanied a traveling exhibition organized by the Wellin Museum of Art. After the talk, we will walk to the nearby Dieu Donné studio to explore the space and see a demonstration of hand papermaking.
This event will last approximately 90 minutes. You will be entering a working industrial site and working studio. Sturdy shoes and comfortable clothes are recommended. Part of this tour requires climbing stairs. If you are interested in coming and have questions about accessibility, please call us for further information at 718 907-5932.
Space is limited. RSVP HERE
