2016 Brooklyn Navy Yard Visiting Artists

BLDG 92 is excited to announce the names of the five individuals selected as the 2016 Brooklyn Navy Yard Visiting Artists. The Visiting Artist program, offered annually, offers access to local artists who are inspired by or seeking to connect to the Yard through a variety of creative disciplines. Each day during the work week of March 28 we will release a blog post about one of the Artists.

C'Naan Hamburger

C’naan received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and has apprenticed in the fields of furniture making and traditional painting. C’naan has traveled extensively and lives in Manhattan but has long been fascinated by the Navy Yard and the distinctive architectural aspects of the site. During her residency she seeks to create unique landscape paintings. Much of C’naan’s work is influenced by herexperience as professional skateboarder. She writes, “When skateboarding in the streets, the instability of recognizable landscapes is fundamental. Similarly, in painting, I am interested in the mind’s capacity to see things in many ways.” We’re excited to see the Yard through her eyes!
